Signs That a Single Ply Roof Needs Repairs
Single roofs are great on account of their convenience and flexibility. They are generally pretty tough as well, capable of withstanding a lot of wear from the weather. However, there will eventually come a time when these capable roofs need repairs.
Some of the most common examples of problems in a single ply roof include:
- Signs Of Bridging – Roofs made from a thermoset like EPDM are especially prone to shrinking. Eventually, the decreased area of material causes the roof to “bridge” at the seams and transitions. When the flashing of the roof has been exposed, it is time for rapid repair.
- Deterioration Of The Sheeting – Another major indication that a single ply roof is damaged is when the mesh scrim is fully visible. The roof may be able to be recoated, but only if this issue is caught right away.
- Warping Or Corrosion From Chemicals Or Mineral Deposits – Depending on the location, a building may be exposed to splashes of chemicals or acrid smoke. If the membrane is starting to become warped or distorted, reach out to a technician.
Let our specialists at Penn Ohio Roofing & Siding Group provide reliable troubleshooting for any single ply roof.
